Choosing a Worldschool Hub

I wanted to Worldschool before I knew what Worldschooling was. And since beginning our Unschooling journey I have responded to various posts about how to afford Worldschooling. Because let's face it—it's expensive.

Now, it doesn't mean unattainable but our own experience has given us some feedback. I hope these tips help you bring your dreams to reality.

1️⃣ What type of Worldschooler are you?

Worldschooling looks different for everyone and it can be full time traveling or a few trips per year. We belong to the latter group and I absolutely love that. We get a few short trips in between the big ones but we love our home base and I have no desire to be full time traveler. If you are itching to travel to the other side of the world I would definitely ask deeper questions because we often think a location change will fix our feelings and it isn't always true. Much deeper work needed!

Experiment with a short trip closer to home and see what works and what doesn't. The Virgo in me love this process of fine tuning the art of traveling. One of my most recent podcast interviews touches this subject a little bit deeper and you can listen here

2️⃣ Choose Worldschooling/travel as an integral part of life (and your budget).

A very old way to do things is to choose our vacation/travel as a way to cope with burnout. As an afterthought. Yet, the tides are turning and we feel how important it is to choose ourselves. This should also be reflected in the way your budget works.

In my Money Muscle process we begin by choosing AND paying ourselves before releasing our funds to other people/institutions. But as you may know I didn't always do this and have gone through financial hardship that led me to debt consolidation twice. Yes, you heard that right—twice. You can listen about that here

You can read my view on how to begin working with your budget here and you can join our newly private podcast "The Money Muscle"  where I review in detail each step of the process. Our private podcast also has resources that will help you uncover the emotional side of financial distress. This is about sharing examples, suggestions and practical ways to grow this side of yourself.

3️⃣ Dream Big, Start Small

This was my phrase for 2025 and it made such a difference. In a world of possibilities everything is possible. Furthermore, you are capable of anything. The kicker here is that we must take the first step. We must take a step into the unknown and reach the edge of expansion.

There are many ways to begin building while living your best life but my favorite one is through the written word. Journaling has a way for me to express my thoughts and feelings while I also feel the knee jerk reactions of my body if something doesn't match what I'm writing. This particular dynamic shows me where the work is. You can use any blank notebook, a sheet of paper or you can  shop our Deschooling journal to keep reminding you that your best life is built intentional and through emotional exploration.

4️⃣ Travel with a Purpose

As a person that has lived out of a suitcase for almost 20 years, I find that I like to travel with a purpose and open to all of the possibilities. What I mean is that when I choose a destination there is something that grounds us into choosing that place.

Our first worldschool hub was in Belize because my husband and I had a vision of moving there even though neither one of us had ever been to Belize or the surrounding areas. The hub was a great way to confirm if that was true or not. It was not true for us but we have some amazing memories of our time there.

In this way, our trip to Belize gave me the insight of our own process of choosing a worldschool hub. And for us is a lengthy one. But it all begins with the desire to experience something completely different.

When I learned about Waterworld through Danielle's FB post I knew that our family would enjoy that. Yet, since connecting with her back in February 2026 through FB messenger, having an interview for our podcast and many messages I didn't know we were ready to commit until yesterday July 30th, 2026.

I will also add that I don't make a habit of committing to events so far in advance but I have gone through my emotional waves (hello Human Design) that have given me the 80% clarity that I need to feel comfortable with this commitment on all its levels—financially and energetically.

5️⃣ LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE!!

Go and live your best life as there is nothing better than that!!! WE ARE HERE TO LIVE, LEARN, LAUGH, LOVE AND DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN! Do this alongside your children and I can't think of a better way to do life.

With gratitude,

Julieta

PS. Here is the post on the timeline of our decision to join Waterworld. I will express that without my Money Muscle insights this would feel out of reach. I hope this helps you choose the next hub that works for you and your family!.
